De-mystifying harmful stereotypes on Indigenous peoples and refugees

Bahar Taheri is a special projects coordinator with  Immigrant Services Society of BC. She works with young refugees and teaches first nations history as part of the curriculum teaching first nations history is part of the curriculum, with  the National Youth Leadership Project. This curriculum has led to solidarity between young Muslims   and Indigenous Peoples.  Fadia Jouny, a 19-year-old Syrian refugee,for example, has recently come back from Winnipeg where she gave a passionate presentation about First Nations, and why refugees need to learn more about their history.
